Chara Karagiannaki – Michaloglou

Chara Karagiannaki – Michaloglou studied History at the Department of History and Archeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (BA). She is currently a post-graduate student, specialized at Contemporary History at the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University. Her Diploma examines the participation of Women to the Democratic Army during the Civil War in political, social and cultural level, focused on the social and gender changes caused by this process.
Involved with Oral History through the Oral History Team of Panteion University, she is taking part in several projects concerning collective memory and its conservation, at neighborhoods but also academic level. Her research interests include social and political movements, refugee flows and settlement, gender studies and feminist movements from the perspective of intersectional approaches, combining historical, political and anthropological analysis. These given, her presented paper at the International Student’s Conference “Border Crossings” in Sarajevo, was “Marxist Analysis and the quest of Nationalism”.
