Thomas Kassaras

Title of Paper : Balkan Volunteers in the Wehrmacht and the SS

Thomas Kassaras was born in Thessaloniki in 1986. In 2013 he graduated with Bachelor degree from the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology of the Theology School (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). In 2015 he graduated with an MA degree from the Department of Black Sea Studies specializing in the history, geopolitics and culture of the wider Black Sea region.
From 2016 he is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of University of Macedonia under the supervision of Efstratios Dordanas, focusing on the history of the Balkan countries during the period of World War Two, the wider spectrum of Axis occupation and armed collaborationism. His working experience includes a placement as teacher of Theology and History in the 12th General High School of Thessaloniki and the Ecclesiastical Lyceum of Neapoli.
